Friends of Old Annville Annual Dinner Meeting
Saturday, November 7, 6-9 PM
Annville Free Library Community Room
216 East Main St., Annville PA
Join us for our Annual Dinner Meeting on the evening of Saturday, November 7, in the Community Room of the recently expanded & refurbished Annville Free Library. Park in the lot behind the library or down the block in the lot of the American Legion, and enter through the main entrance in the rear of the building. Doors open at 6 pm, with dinner served at 7:00 pm. The cost is $50 per plate.
Our featured speaker for the evening is Jean-Paul Benowitz, Professor of History and Director of Public Heritage Studies at Elizabethtown College. In his talk, titled "Why Old Buildings Matter: Jane Jacobs vs. Robert Moses in New York, Edmund Bacon's Philadelphia, and the Case for Preservation and Adaptive Reuse in Annville," Prof. Benowitz will trace how Americans came to understand why old buildings matter, and what the great mid-century battles over New York and Philadelphia mean for the work of preservation and adaptive reuse in Annville today. His talk will connect the founding dramas of the preservation movement to the mission of the Friends of Old Annville, placing the stewardship of Main Street's historic buildings within a proud national tradition of citizens who fought to save the places they love.
The evening's dinner will be catered by Becky Briody's Chef on the Go and feature a variety of delicious hors d’oeuvres, a dinner buffet of grilled chicken piccata, pesto crusted baked salmon, au gratin potatoes, and more, with desserts and beverages, including red & white wine courtesy of a generous FOOA donor.
You can register for the dinner by filling out the form on this page. Once you've submitted the form, please click on the "Pay for Annual Dinner Here" button to complete your registration and payment. Thank you and hope to see you on Saturday, November 7!
