View of L-shaped Carriage Works in 1888 |
|
Originally constructed around 1840, this building was once part of a complex of buildings which comprise a carriage shop run by John L. Saylor. The complex extended behind 16 South White Oak to the back of Miller’s Hardware store. A large sign on the front of Miller’s announced the presence of Saylor’s in the back. Carriages were built on the upper level and lowered to the first floor. The building has recently been renovated as a residence with cedar siding. |
