Not long after their construction about 1900, the two homes in this double house became known as “teachers’ homes” because of their original residents. The original owner of 403 was Professor John E. Lehman, Professor of Mathematics and Astronomy at LVC from 1887-1928. Prof. Lehman surveyed the boundary lines of the proposed new “Annville Township” in 1908. 405 East Main was originally owned by Professor Harry E. Spessard, Professor of English and Latin at LVC from 1898-1899 and 1903-1912. From 1930 to 1959 Alma Light, teaching of history at Lebanon High School, lived here. The house came to be known as “the Alma Light house.” Today, 403 is occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Mark Longenecker. Mark and Sara bought the house, with back yard patio, in 1964. 405 is occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Woods. Glenn and Carolyn moved in in August 1965. |
