This very lovely home was built prior to the 1890s by David Saylor and Sons as their personal home. This branch of the Saylor family (compare neighbors at 301 East Main Street) built many homes in Annville around that time. They were also involved in the lumber and coal business. |

Many innovative ideas were implemented in the construction of the home, the most unique, perhaps, being a system of rain spouts which led through the walls of the home into a large tank once positioned on the third floor of the home about the length of an entire room. Rainwater was accumulated in the tank and used for a plumbing system built into the home: it was the first indoor bathroom in Annville! |
